I studied fine art at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. Inspired by illuminated manuscripts, mathematical knot theory, and medieval herbals, my pen and ink drawings repeat patterns drawn from plants, marginalia, and knots. These drawings led to an illustrated how-to knit book. From 2011-2015 I apprenticed at A to Z Letterpress Printing. This involved yearly trips to the letterpress show at Minnesota Center for Book Arts. My love of books evolved into an obsession with book art.

In 2012 I set the type for and bound "The Rewrite Project" which was a collaborative writing exercise exploring poetry and rewriting. An emerging artist grant from Southwest Minnesota Arts Council enabled me to complete my first book sculpture project, "Ekphrastic Journeys." It was exhibited at Southwest Minnesota Arts Councils' gallery in spring 2018.

Because there is always something more to learn or try, from October 2015 until April 2019, I owned a picture framing business in Marshall, Minnesota.
